Woodfiber: a sustainable and versatile raw material
Woodfiber is increasingly used in our substrates. It is a sustainable raw material with many positive properties that contribute to the quality of the substrate.
The production of wood fiber starts with wood chips, which are fiberized under high temperatures of up to 100 degrees. This process ensures that wood fiber is a clean and reliable product.
We offer different types of woodfiber, each with specific advantages that depend on the application. The choice of a specific type of woodfiber is often determined by factors such as:
Workability during potting:
For small pot sizes, a finer woodfiber is preferably used. For cuttingsoils and sowingsoils, it is even crucial that the woodfiber is as fine as possible.
Color:
Some woodfibers are treated to get a brown color, which makes them less noticeable in the substrate. This way, the substrate retains the color you are used to.
Availability:
Not all woodfibers are always available in large quantities. This also plays a role in our choice, because the most important thing is that the substrate arrives at the customer on time.
Price:
The price is of course also a factor in selecting the type of woodfiber.
