See below the message from Martijn Boers of Martijn Boers Pot Plants:
A year ago, I called Bram van Paassen from BOL specialist in substraten. I told him, "I’m going to grow Eucalyptus as a potted plant. Can you arrange a truckload of substrate for me?
Apparently, I had skipped a few steps in the process of ordering substrate. When he asked, "What kind of mix do you want?" the only answer I could come up with was, "Just give me something affordable." Bram replied, "Alright, get the coffee ready; I’ll come over.
I had absolutely no clue about substrat. And that’s not ideal, because substrate is the foundation your plants need to grow.
After an hour of discussing what I wanted from my substrate, Bram had all the information he needed. He went to work on it, and a day later, I was suddenly the proud owner of my very own potting soil mix. Seven different ingredients perfectly combined to create the best organic base for my Eucalyptus.
You can imagine, this was yet another moment where I thought, I really should have paid more attention back in horticultural school. I had to adapt quickly just to keep up with the guys at Bol Potgrond. Thankfully, every question I asked was met with a clear and detailed explanation.
Well, Bram, that worked great... let’s do another truckload. And there I went wrong again. I thought, That mix of mine is going to take some time to prepare—blending it, packing it into big bags, and then waiting for a truck to have time to deliver it to my nursery. My expectation was that it would take at least a week or so. But the next morning, before I had even arrived at the nursery, 16 big bags were already waiting in the shed. What a service!
During the growing process, you sometimes run into issues or questions. Whenever I discuss these with Bol, they always come up with a solution quickly. This works perfectly. It allows me to focus on other concerns.
With Bol Potgrond, I truly have a fantastic partner for my potted plants. They think along with me so well that I still don’t need to know much about substrate.
Alone you may go faster, but together, we do it better.
